Keeping interviews moving and capturing key moments as they happened tested INTI International College Subang students’ media skills during IP CONFEX 2026.

Students from INTI International College Subang served on the Ground Publicity Committee for IP CONFEX 2026, working alongside MyIPO’s Corporate Communications team on media coverage and digital content.
As members of the Ground Publicity Committee, the students worked alongside the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia’s (MyIPO) Corporate Communications team. Their responsibilities included photography, videography, interviews, live event coverage, and digital content production, requiring them to coordinate with teammates and adapt to changing schedules.
The National Conference and Exhibition on Intellectual Property Commercialisation (IP CONFEX 2026) took place from 6 to 7 October 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. Organised by MyIPO in collaboration with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), it gathered over 500 participants, including innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, industry representatives and financial institutions.
For Bugk Yuet Ci, a second-year Diploma in Mass Communication student, the assignment involved hosting and interviewing on camera. Over the two days, she interviewed speakers, exhibitors, participants and invited guests, preparing questions for people with different backgrounds and areas of expertise.
“During a live event, things can change very quickly, so I had to think on the spot and adjust my questions depending on the person I was interviewing,” she said.

IP CONFEX 2026, held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from 6 to 7 October 2026, gathered over 500 participants to explore intellectual property commercialisation.
When answers were brief or unexpected, she had to keep the conversation going rather than simply move through her prepared questions. Conducting multiple interviews helped her become more comfortable approaching professionals and speaking on camera.
The student team interviewed content creator Reina Lum and podcaster Aidititmyway. These conversations gave the students opportunities to practise engaging with interviewees while contributing material for the conference’s coverage.
Working behind the camera, Lu Kai Zhe had to decide where to position himself and what to capture as the event unfolded.
As a final-year student in the Bachelor of Media and Communication 3+0 programme, offered in collaboration with Swinburne University of Technology, he was responsible for photography and videography. He documented speeches, presentations, audience interactions and the atmosphere across the venue.
His preparation included checking equipment and coordinating with teammates before moving between locations to cover different activities.
“One of the biggest lessons I learned was how to handle real-world situations under pressure,” he said. “During a live conference, important moments happen only once, so I had to react quickly and make decisions on the spot.”

The assignment strengthened his camera handling, framing, and composition skills while requiring him to balance attention to detail with the conference’s pace. He also gained a clearer understanding of how individual decisions affect the quality of a team’s coverage.
The organiser gave the students’ work positive feedback. MyIPO Head of Corporate Communications Akhtar Sahari said their participation had significantly boosted publicity for IP CONFEX 2026.
“The highly creative and engaging videos they produced also earned praise from MyIPO’s Top Management,” he said. “The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by these students reflect a high level of commitment toward achieving the programme’s objectives.”

The INTI student team contributed photography, videography, interviews and digital content to the conference’s publicity efforts. MyIPO commended their videos and commitment to the assignment.
For the INTI students, the assignment connected classroom learning with responsibility for work produced alongside a professional communications team. Yuet Ci gained confidence in conducting interviews, while Kai Zhe developed his ability to anticipate moments and make decisions behind the lens.
With graduation approaching, Kai Zhe said the experience had given him greater confidence in pursuing photography, videography and digital content creation. His understanding of media work has also grown to include the responsibilities that come with technical ability.
“It is also about storytelling, communication, adaptability, and being responsible for delivering quality work under real-world conditions,” he said.
