Nearly eight years after INTI International College Subang first began working with the PPR Lembah Subang 2 community, a dedicated learning space has been launched to support children and youth in the area.

The 21st Century Learning Cube was launched on 13 June 2026 at PPR Lembah Subang 2 through a collaboration involving INTI International College Subang, Public Bank Berhad, the National Housing Department (JPN) under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT), community leaders and residents.
The space is intended to support educational programmes, digital literacy activities, personal development sessions and community activities for young residents.
Since 2018, INTI has worked with residents through food aid initiatives, educational support programmes, digital literacy workshops, women’s empowerment activities, sustainability projects and other community development efforts. These initiatives also helped students and staff better understand the needs and aspirations of the community.
Dr Jane Lim, Chief Executive of INTI International College Subang and Vice President of Academic Support & Partnership at INTI International University & Colleges, said the launch was a continuation of the relationship INTI has built with residents over the years.
“Today’s launch is meaningful because it continues the relationship INTI has built with the PPR Lembah Subang 2 community since 2018. Over the years, our students and staff have worked closely with residents through educational, digital literacy, sustainability, and community support initiatives,” she said.

“We hope this space will give children and young people more opportunities to learn, discover their strengths, and build confidence for the future,” she added.
The initiative also shows how spaces within public housing communities can be used to support learning, empowerment and community development.
YBrs Dr Tan Awang Besar, Director General of the National Housing Department, Ministry of Housing and Local Government, said the launch carried important meaning for the PPR Lembah Subang 2 community.
“What we are celebrating today is not merely the opening of a learning space, but a synergistic effort to create opportunities for future generations,” he said.
Facilitated by KPKT through JPN, the project supports efforts to make better use of spaces within public housing communities. It also aligns with broader priorities to support education and poverty reduction among underserved communities.
The initiative is expected to benefit residents of PPR Lembah Subang 1 and 2, including 2,000 children aged six to 12, 1,500 students aged 13 to 17, 200 women from female-headed households and single-mother families, and 100 out-of-school youths.
“I hope that the 21st Century Learning Cube will be fully utilised by the PPR Lembah Subang 2 community, serving as a platform for various learning activities, personal development, and community empowerment in the future,” Dr Tan added.
Public Bank Berhad supported the initiative as part of its commitment to community development and education.

For INTI alumnus Dexter Cheow Jia Hao, the launch was especially significant because the idea had its roots in student-led community work.
Dexter, an alumnus of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Finance 3+0 programme in collaboration with the University of Hertfordshire, UK, at INTI International College Subang, said the idea first took shape through community service.
“The idea first emerged through a community service class, where we worked closely with communities and learned more about the challenges faced by low-income families. Through initiatives such as the Hope 4 B40 Bazaar, we sought to raise awareness and contribute towards supporting those in need,” he said.
INTI International College Subang students showcase projects developed to educate and engage the PPR Lembah Subang 2 community.
Dexter said the experience helped students understand that community support should not stop at short-term assistance.
“As we spent more time engaging with the community, we realised that meaningful change goes beyond donations. It is also about contributing time, skills, and effort while creating opportunities that can have a lasting impact on people’s lives,” he said.
Now a Credit Analyst in the financial leasing industry, Dexter credits his involvement in community engagement at INTI with shaping his leadership, teamwork and sense of social responsibility.
“Seeing the 21st Century Learning Cube become a reality is especially meaningful because it shows how a simple idea can grow into something much larger. What started as student-led community initiatives has now become a dedicated space that will continue supporting children, youth, and families for years to come,” he added.
The Learning Cube will be supported through continued collaboration between residents, students, industry partners and government agencies.

The Changemakers of INTI International College Subang will oversee the planning and implementation of educational programmes, community engagement activities and volunteer initiatives. MYITRA Social Enterprise, established by INTI students and lecturers, will support the project’s sustainability through social entrepreneurship, community empowerment and income-generating initiatives. The Block B Committee of PPR Lembah Subang 2 will manage the day-to-day operations of the facility and work closely with residents to ensure the space continues to serve the community effectively.
As programmes begin to take shape, the 21st Century Learning Cube is set to become a practical space for learning, mentoring and community-led activities shaped with residents, for residents.
