Harold Rynesh Aloysius, a rising star in squash and a national player, recently showcased his talent at the Southeast Asian Junior Individual Championships (SEAJIC) in Thailand in May 2024. Representing Malaysia, Harold achieved an impressive 3rd place in the Boys Under 19 category, solidifying his status as a formidable competitor.

Despite his demanding training and competition schedule, Harold is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in collaboration with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) at INTI International College Subang. His ability to excel both on the court and in the classroom is a testament to his dedication and passion for success.

From a young boy captivated by the game of squash to a rising star on the international stage, he started playing squash at four when he tagged along to the squash courts to watch his eldest sibling. By the time he was six, Harold had picked up a squash racquet, and by nine, his competitive journey was well underway.

Participating in numerous local and international tournaments, he has steadily climbed the ranks. His hard work and determination are reflected in his current rankings: SRAM National Junior Ranking 7 (Boys U19) and Asian Junior Ranking 20 (Boys U19).

“Balancing my schedule effectively has been a gradual process, developed over years of striving to improve my studies, excel in squash, and maintain a social life. Although it hasn’t been easy, I’ve had to make certain sacrifices along the way,” Harold shared.

Harold clinched bronze for Malaysia at the Southeast Asian Junior Individual Championships (SEAJIC) 2024 in Thailand last May.

He struggles with motivation like anyone else, stating, “I’m not always driven, and there are days when I struggle to find the energy to do anything. However, I strive to approach each task with my best effort and find joy in the process. My goal is to live comfortably in the future and treat myself to nice things, like a wardrobe full of stylish clothes.”

“Finding your balance isn’t easy; it can be mentally and physically tiring. Keep trying your best. It may take time, but with consistency and discipline, you will see results,” he added.

Harold credits his family for their unwavering support in his squash and academic pursuits, stating, “My family has supported my squash and academics wholeheartedly from the beginning. Even when I haven’t performed particularly well in either aspect, they have supported me every step of the way.”

Harold actively participates in community activities outside the squash court, such as the INTERACT Club and the Model United Nations Council 2022. His well-rounded skills include excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal abilities, making him a formidable individual on and off the court.

Harold plans to play squash competitively through university while pursuing further studies abroad, particularly in America. This dream has been a cherished goal for as long as he can remember, and he hopes to represent a university in squash while studying there.
