When top JPA scholars like Kharthik Chakravarthy and Tania Loke chose to complete the Cambridge A Level and New South Wales High School Certificate (NSW HSC) programmes respectively at INTI International College Penang (IICP), it spoke volumes of the quality of the college’s pre-university courses.
Kharthik, one of the top 50 students in the country and recipient of a high distinction award in the 2012 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools by The University of New South Wales, decided to pursue his A-level studies at IICP because he enjoyed the classes and the excellent teaching quality.
Kharthik Chakravarthy is among the many high achievers who prefer INTI. |
“Our lecturers are really helpful, friendly and good at their job,” he said. “They go the extra mile to assist and encourage students, and make sure that none of us are left behind. As classes are kept small, we receive individual attention and this along with the great facilities on campus creates an excellent environment for learning.”
Tania, who was presented the Elite National Scholarship Award by JPA, went on to receive the premier medal for all subjects with distinctions in the NSW HSC exams as an IICP student. She scored the highest ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) of 99.55 and her name has appeared in the Board of Studies website as a Distinguished Achiever from Malaysia.
NSW HSC is widely regarded as the most prestigious of the Australian matriculation credentials and a favourite among school leavers seeking a qualification accepted by universities in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA, Canada, India and Singapore as well as Malaysian private universities into popular degree courses in medicine, pharmacy, engineering, business, IT and more. Since 1994, about 20 percent of IICP’s exam candidates score an ATAR of 90 and above every year, which places them in the top 10 percent of the HSC cohort worldwide.
The Cambridge A Level programme is also one of INTI’s most successful running programmes which have seen students progress to some of the best universities around the world including Oxford, Cambridge, London School of Economics, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, and Stanford among others. Good grades in carefully chosen A Level subjects can allow up to one full year of advance standing or credit at universities in USA and Canada.
“Students of IICP enjoy the ‘Laureate advantage’ which makes a world of difference in helping them realize their full potential. Being a part of the global Laureate International Universities network, they have access to knowledge, thought processes, best practices, academic talent and resources like no others. Some, like Alyssa Ong, even had the privilege of meeting President Bill Clinton in the US as representatives of INTI and Malaysia at the Clinton Global Initiative University. Laureate’s support also provides students with access to cutting edge global events such as the World Business Forum and Clinton Global Initiative, where they can learn from top global leaders discussing issues affecting the world today. This provides an international learning experience beyond Malaysia as part of their studies and as part of their world class education at local prices,” said Dr Michael Yap, IICP’s Principal and Chief Executive.
Students of INTI benefit not only from the institution’s over 25 years of experience and strong track-record, but also gain from the global synergy and resources that Laureate International Universities provides. Laureate – the world’s largest private education network – has a presence in 29 countries, with more than 60 accredited universities and 130 campuses, serving more than 740,000 students globally.
