Work hard, play hard is more than a phrase for the all-round high achieving students of INTI College Sabah (ICS). For many of them, it’s a way of life.
ICS recently celebrated the achievements of over a hundred of its students, many of whom were graduating, awarded scholarships or receiving academic awards. Two students – Daniel Christopher Wong Wai Hong and Susan Andersen – stood out at the ICS Awards Ceremony as recipients of the IOI Industry Award for Most Outstanding Student.
Selected from a list of five nominees who fulfill the criteria of excellence in academics and co-curricular activities, Daniel and Susan exemplify the hardworking and hardplaying students who serve as ideal role models for their peers.

“My nomination came as a surprise and I am extremely grateful to everyone who has helped to make it possible,” said Daniel, a Diploma in Business Administration student who is an avid photographer and sportsman and whose interests go beyond basketball, badminton and futsal to include calligraphy. “ICS is a great place to study – I have many friends here and they include my lecturers who would go out all to ensure that my college experience is a rich and fulfilling one.”
Diploma in Hotel Management student Susan Andersen was equally surprised at her nomination although her honor roll achievements and active participation in campus clubs and societies certainly justified it.

“It never crossed my mind that I would be nominated although I knew that great things could be achieved at ICS. Being awarded was a wonderful experience on top of all the knowledge, fun and friendships that I have gained over here. I am currently in my final semester of the diploma programme and I will feel sad leaving ICS to further my studies in Switzerland,” said Susan after receiving the award from Mr Peter Wong Thiam Lai, IOI Group’s Meliau Estate Manager.
“All candidates for the IOI Industry Award for Most Outstanding Student have shown tremendous caliber as all-rounders,” said Dr Alan Lim, Principal and Chief Executive of ICS. “They have demonstrated a high level of leadership and competency in enhancing the total campus experience for themselves and their peers.”
