December 15, 2021

INTI International University & Colleges (INTI) recently inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) to promote and strengthen academic collaboration for the advancement of teaching, learning, employability, and research in both institutions.

The signing ceremony conducted virtually on 25 October 2021 will see the two institutions work on initiating joint research projects, academic and student exchange, study tours and visits, industrial placement opportunities, mobility student and faculty exchange, among others.

Dr Manuel M. Muhi, President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, said he welcomed the new partnership.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with PUP is another significant milestone for INTI in its pursuit for excellence in higher education.

“The signing of this Memorandum of Agreement will mark the beginning of our collaboration, sharing and exchanging different venues, working together on academic programmes, enrolment, placement of students, faculty and student exchange, visiting scholar programmes, and other significant teaching and learning opportunities.

“We will collaborate on various programmes and projects which will undoubtedly allow for a more widespread exchange of knowledge, skills, ideas, and vision amongst students and academicians from both institutions. It will benefit both the academic community and society as a whole, as our university and yours continue to strive to provide quality and accessible higher education,” he said.

According to Dr Manuel, working together to promote and develop a shared vision and learn from one another will allow both universities to change the world for the better.

Meanwhile, Chong Kok Wai, Chief Executive Officer of INTI International University & Colleges, said in his speech that the agreement is a fantastic way to bring together the culture and ideas of both Malaysia and the Philippines.

“While people are wary of traveling and meeting people in person amid the pandemic, this does not stop or slow our efforts in academic partnership and collaboration. Many projects can be carried out using technology to further enhance students’ learning experience,” he said.

At the signing ceremony, Kok Wai also shared that INTI, as a relatively young institution, INTI was fortunate to have academic partners worldwide and is now  expanding academic partnerships with institutions in the Philippines.

“We are happy to officiate a partnership with one of the polytechnic universities of the Philippines, the largest public university in the Philippines. What an honour it is to collaborate with PUP, which has over a century of experience in education, on exciting projects involving curriculum, exchange programme, academic research, and more,” he said.

Citing Nelson Mandela, he said education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world and the cooperation is  the beginning of an incredible opportunity for the students and faculty at INTI and PUP to extend their worldview.

Despite a virtual signing ceremony, both delegates from PUP and INTI expressed hopes to visit each other’s campus once the world overcomes the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am both honoured and grateful to be a part of this initiative and look forward to ways that we can empower students to create the world of tomorrow,” he concluded his speech.
