“Students will also learn how to produce and analyze reports and financial statements as well as design and implement accounting systems. Our graduates will be able to operate independently in an accounting environment. Successful completion of the programme will enable them to progress to year 2 of Bachelor’s degree programmes and qualify for Advanced Standing for related majors,” said Voon Boo Khoon, Head of the TAFE Advanced Diploma of Accounting programme.

On the prospects of an accountancy professional, Voon said, “The media has reported on numerous occasions that the country would need approximately 60,000 accountants by 2020, regardless of the state of the economy. It is therefore not surprising that Accountancy is often referred to as a ‘recession-proof profession’.”

The Advanced Diploma of Accounting programme is of 2 years duration and is open to SPM holders with a minimum of 3 SPM credits with at least a pass in Mathematics. To provide an even greater opportunity for secondary school leavers to pursue the course at INTI College Sarawak, various scholarships are available for deserving students for the coming February 2012 session. For example, the INTI-Laureate Merit Scholarship in the form of tuition fee waiver (ranging from partial to full tuition fee waiver) is available for students with outstanding academic performance in their SPM, STPM and UEC examinations. Students with strong leadership qualities and who have been active in serving their schools and community can apply for the INTI Leadership X-cellence Scholarship. INTI also provides scholarships to students who excel in sports under the INTI Sports X-cellence Scholarship.

Students of INTI benefit not only from the institution’s over 25 years of experience and strong track-record, but also gain from the global synergy and resources that Laureate International Universities provides. INTI is part of Laureate, the world’s largest private education network with a presence in 29 countries, with more than 60 accredited universities and 130 campuses, serving more than 675,000 students globally.
