The Media Centre supports the Mass Communication programme under the Faculty of Business and Communication, giving students access to facilities for television production, filmmaking, photography, radio, podcasting, audio production and live streaming.
The upgrade covered the studios, production control room, podcast studio and editing suites, along with improvements to the lighting, electrical and networking systems, acoustic treatment and furniture.
Professional equipment was also added to support different stages of media production. The centre now includes a multi-camera television production studio, production control room, podcast studio, radio studio, audio room, photography studio and editing facilities.
Dr Chong Kok Wai, Chief Executive Officer of INTI International University & Colleges, said the investment was intended to support more practical teaching and learning while strengthening the preparation of Mass Communication graduates.
“The investment can be seen in the rooms and equipment around us. Its real value, however, will be seen in what our lecturers and students can do here,” he said.
“We want graduates to understand the ideas, ethics and responsibilities behind communication, and to produce work that is ready for an audience.”
Students will be able to use the facilities to prepare scripts, operate professional equipment, work in production teams and review their work. They will also gain experience across several formats and platforms, reflecting the increasingly varied nature of media roles.

Dr Chong said graduates entering the industry could be expected to contribute in more than one area within the same project.
“A graduate may be asked to write, record, present and edit within the same project,” he said.
“We cannot predict every tool our students will use in the years ahead. We can, however, give them a sound foundation, practical experience and the confidence to keep learning.”
Siti Nurbaayah Binti Daud, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication, described the Media Centre as a space where students could develop their creativity and explore new ways of communicating.
“This Media Centre is more than just a facility. It is a platform where ideas come to life, stories are created, and future media professionals develop the skills needed to thrive in the ever-evolving digital landscape,” she said.
She also acknowledged the support of the university management and the contributions of the lecturers and staff involved in planning and developing the Media Centre.
Siti Nurbaayah said collaboration between academia and industry was important in preparing students for the changing demands of the profession.
“Strong collaboration between academia and industry is essential in preparing graduates who are ready to meet the demands of the future,” she said.
Addressing the students, she encouraged them to make full use of the facilities and the opportunities available to them.
“I hope our students will fully utilise this facility to learn, create, innovate and produce impactful content that reflects professionalism, integrity and creativity,” she said.
