March 5, 2026

INTI International University has completed upgrades to its Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Centre and Physiotherapy Centre, strengthening its clinical training facilities and community healthcare services in Nilai.

The upgraded centres were officially launched during the Public Health Carnival 2026, held from 4 to 6 February 2026. Over three days, healthcare professionals, academics, students and members of the public took part in free health screenings, consultations and educational sessions focusing on prevention, rehabilitation and long-term wellbeing.

The launch ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Hajah Tengku Zamrah Tengku Sulaiman, Negeri Sembilan State Executive Councillor for Health, Unity, Information, National Integration and Non-Governmental Organisations. Representatives from local enforcement agencies and health authorities were also present, highlighting ongoing cooperation between the University and public-sector stakeholders.

In her address, she noted that healthcare today extends beyond treatment to include prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation. She added that as Nilai continues to grow, access to quality healthcare services close to home is critical to supporting the community’s overall quality of life.

She also shared Negeri Sembilan’s aspiration to position the state as a medical education and wellness destination by 2026 under the Visit Negeri Sembilan campaign. Initiatives that integrate healthcare services, education and community engagement, she said, contribute to the development of medical edutourism as a sustainable growth area.
Prof. Dr Shamsul Nahar Abdullah, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Operations), said the upgraded centres support the University’s approach to healthcare education.

“Real-world practice, hands-on training and patient interaction are essential in preparing competent and compassionate healthcare professionals,” he said.

He added that opening the centres to the public allows students to apply academic knowledge in supervised clinical settings while delivering accessible, evidence-informed services to the community.

The Physiotherapy Centre was renovated and officially reopened in September 2024. The TCM Centre has also undergone refurbishment, with improved consultation rooms, treatment areas and learning spaces that meet current professional standards.

Both centres operate as academic training facilities and community service centres. Students from the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences and the INTI School of Traditional Chinese Medicine receive supervised clinical exposure, gaining practical experience while providing services to the public. Members of the surrounding community, including families, staff and residents, may seek consultation and treatment at the centres.

Throughout the carnival, visitors also attended health talks delivered by professionals in TCM and physiotherapy. Topics included lifestyle-related conditions, rehabilitation, pain management and holistic approaches to maintaining long-term wellbeing.

With the completion of these upgrades, INTI continues to integrate healthcare education with community service, supporting preventive care and practical clinical training within Nilai and the wider Negeri Sembilan community
