More Students Gain Access to Higher Education via INTI Edu-Assist

November 30, 2012

For many school leavers whose higher education goals were put in doubt due to financial constraints, INTI Edu-Assist has served as a virtual lifeline.

Opening the doors of opportunity to pursue world-class tertiary-level studies at INTI College Sarawak, INTI Edu-Assist, introduced early this year, is a partial grant on tuition fees with the objective of minimising out-of-pocket tuition fees that students are required to cover.

“INTI Edu-Assist has eased the financial burden of our parents. With the cost savings, we are able to plan and look forward to degree level studies on completion of our diploma programmes,” said Chang Chai Yii, a semester 3 student in the Diploma in Culinary Arts programme, on behalf of her fellow INTI Edu-Assist recipients.

Jeshua Arnon A/L Abraham, a first semester student in the Diploma in Business programme, concurred by saying, “The partial tuition fee waiver from the scheme has made it possible for us to pursue tertiary level studies at a premier private institution of higher learning, thereby helping us to achieve our academic and life goals.”

Acknowledging the positive response to the grant by students and parents alike, Ivy Lau, Chief Executive and Principal of INTI College Sarawak said, “INTI Edu-Assist is in line with our ongoing mission to provide the community with greater accessibility to quality higher education. A monthly payment plan is available for Edu-Assist recipients, thereby offering greater flexibility in terms of payment.”

Malaysian students from families with a joint monthly household income of RM5,000 and below (students from East Malaysia) / RM6,000 and below (students from other parts of Malaysia) are eligible to apply for the INTI Edu-Assist for the coming January 2013 session.

In addition to the INTI Edu-Assist, INTI offers a range of scholarships and awards for deserving students. The INTI-Laureate Merit Scholarship in the form of tuition fee waiver (ranging from partial to full tuition fee waiver) is available for students with outstanding results in their SPM, STPM and UEC examinations. Students with strong leadership qualities and who have been active in serving their schools and community can apply for the INTI Leadership X-cellence Scholarship. INTI also provides opportunities to students who excel in sports under the INTI Sports X-cellence Scholarship.

Currently, at INTI College Sarawak, opportunities abound for students to earn internationally recognized undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications. A host of pre-university, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes can be completed entirely at INTI College Sarawak. The wide range of programmes covers the broad spectrum of Business Administration, Culinary Arts and Hotel Management.

Students of INTI benefit not only from the institution’s over 25 years of experience and strong track record, but also gain from the global synergy and resources that Laureate International Universities provides. INTI is part of Laureate, which has a presence in 29 countries, with more than 60 accredited campus-based and online universities and 130 campuses, serving over 740,000 students globally.
