Lead with Integrity, Duopharma CEO Tells INTI Students

July 12, 2025

“Integrity is what you do, what you say, and what you say you do.” These were the defining words of Wan Amir-Jeffery bin Wan Abdul Majid, Chief Executive Officer (Group Operations) at Duopharma Biotech Berhad, during his talk at the INTI Leadership Series 2025 at INTI International University.

Speaking on the theme “Leading with Integrity: How Core Values Shape Leadership”, Jeffery offered a candid reflection on leadership in the face of ethical complexity. Drawing from personal experience and real-world industry pressures, he urged students to view integrity not as one of many values but as the foundation of them all. “Without integrity, you will lose trust. Without trust, you will lose everything else – respect, credibility, even your career,” he said.

He described integrity as the alignment of words, actions, and a moral compass. Addressing the audience of future professionals, he encouraged them to begin building their values now, not after entering the workforce. “Start today. Practice being the kind of person and leader others can depend on.”

Jeffery also addressed the grey areas of leadership: short-term performance demands, conflicting interests, and ambiguity in decision-making. His message was clear – “When in doubt, don’t do it. Let your values lead.”

His words resonated with students preparing to step into leadership roles. He reminded them that integrity is not built through grand gestures, but through consistent daily actions. “People watch what you do, even when you think they’re not. They will remember whether you stayed true to your word.”

The session also provided insight into Duopharma Biotech Berhad, Malaysia’s largest homegrown pharmaceutical company. Jeffery spoke of its over 400 manufactured products, including Halal-certified medicines, biosimilars, and essential vaccines. He touched on the company’s collaboration with the Ministry of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic and reaffirmed its commitment to public health.

The session concluded with an exclusive chat between Jeffery and INTI’s Top 10 students – a more personal space for conversation on leadership, decision-making, and staying grounded.

A long-standing industry partner of INTI, Duopharma supports student development through employer projects, recruitment initiatives, and involvement in the advisory board. Jeffery also serves on INTI’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences Industry Advisory Board.

In her opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Chang Sook Keng, Director of Teaching & Learning at INTI International University, said, “We aim to shape not just competent graduates, but principled leaders. Jeffery’s message today is a powerful reminder that leadership begins with character.”
