INTI International College Penang and AMD Penang continued their collaboration in November 2025, working with global hunger relief organisation Rise Against Hunger Malaysia as part of a long-term effort to address food insecurity through collective community action.
The 2025 initiative brought together INTI Penang students and AMD Penang volunteers to pack more than 52,000 nutritious meals, which will be distributed to communities affected by food insecurity. The effort formed part of the collaboration’s ongoing work to translate joint action into tangible support for vulnerable communities.
The initiative followed a similar meal-packing effort held in October 2024, during which more than 56,000 meals were prepared, marking the second year of the collaboration.

The initiative also gave students hands-on exposure to real-world social challenges through direct participation in community-based action, helping them develop greater awareness of the role they can play in contributing positively to society.
“This initiative shows our belief that education must extend beyond the classroom,” said Hemalatha Murugiah, Chief Executive of INTI International College Penang. “By working closely with AMD and Rise Against Hunger, our students are contributing to addressing food insecurity while developing the social awareness and sense of responsibility needed as future leaders.”
From an industry perspective, the collaboration highlighted the value of close cooperation between corporations and educational institutions in supporting longer-term social efforts.

“At AMD, we are committed to creating positive change by supporting communities in need, including the critical issue of hunger,” said Khoo Chuang Li, Senior Director, Finance and AMD Penang Site Lead. “Working with INTI and alongside Rise Against Hunger allows us to strengthen our community engagement while encouraging a culture of purpose, compassion, and shared responsibility among our employees and students.”
Representing the humanitarian sector, Rise Against Hunger Malaysia emphasised the importance of consistency and sustainability in addressing food insecurity.
“Sustainability is key to creating real transformation,” said Tiki Keh, President of Rise Against Hunger Malaysia. “Long-term collaborations such as this help ensure continued support for communities in need. Educational institutions like INTI play an important role in raising awareness about hunger and helping students understand that social responsibility matters alongside professional success.”
Aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger, the collaboration showed how educational institutions, industry and non-profit organisations can work together to support communities facing food insecurity
