INTI Partners with iBlooming to Break Language Barriers in Academia

August 26, 2024

INTI International University is set to advance its research and education through its latest collaboration with Hybrid Learning Ocean (M) Sdn Bhd, commonly known as iBlooming. As the world’s first AI-based learning and business platform, iBlooming is poised to redefine how knowledge is shared at INTI by providing audio translation services that bridge language barriers for non-English speakers.

This collaboration was officially launched during the Global Advances in Health & Life Sciences Conference 2024 closing ceremony, hosted by INTI’s Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The conference, which brought together participants from leading universities in China and Thailand, highlighted the critical importance of effective communication in an increasingly globalized academic landscape. The persistent challenges posed by language barriers, particularly for non-English-speaking participants, were a focal point of the discussions.

“Education should be accessible, and languages should not be a barrier for us to share knowledge,” emphasised Professor Dr Lee Shiou Yih, Interim Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at INTI International University. “Our collaboration with iBlooming will change how we conduct not just conferences but also how we work with other international universities.”

During the closing ceremony, a pivotal moment was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between INTI International University and iBlooming. This MoU symbolises the beginning of a powerful synergy between the two institutions. The agreement was signed by Dr Song Kuok Thong, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Social Impact at INTI International University, and Jake Liu, Co-Founder & CEO of iBlooming, with their respective witnesses, Professor Dr Lee Shiou Yih, and KK Kong, Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer of iBlooming.

The event also featured a live demonstration of iBlooming’s cutting-edge AI services. Attendees and conference participants were introduced to a mock-up presentation showcasing the platform’s unique capabilities. iBlooming’s AI technology allows for seamless translations of English-speaking videos into other languages, such as Thai and Mandarin, with the added feature of making it appear that the original speaker delivers the speech in the translated language. This innovation is set to significantly enhance the accessibility and reach of academic presentations and research at INTI.

The MoU between INTI and iBlooming extends beyond audio translation services. It includes provisions for knowledge exchange, internship and career opportunities for INTI students, and industry advisory services for iBlooming. This collaboration is expected to provide INTI students with invaluable exposure to the latest AI technologies, equipping them with the skills needed to excel in a rapidly changing job market.

“The collaboration between INTI and iBlooming is highly significant because it combines INTI’s educational strengths with iBlooming’s technological innovations, particularly in AI,” said Dr Song Kuok Thong. “Through this partnership, INTI students will gain industry experience through projects, research opportunities, and mentorship programs focused on AI and IT, which are essential in preparing our students for the future.”

Additionally, as part of the MoU, iBlooming employees will be eligible for a corporate discount of up to 40% on total fees for INTI’s Working Professional Programme, further strengthening the ties between the two organisations and demonstrating INTI’s commitment to fostering lifelong learning.

As the partnership evolves, it is expected to set new standards for how educational institutions can leverage AI to enhance the accessibility, inclusivity, and effectiveness of research and learning on a global scale.
