INTI International University marked the reopening of its upgraded INTI Physiotherapy Centre with a special ceremony on 24 September 2024. The event, officiated by Chong Kok Wai, CEO of INTI International University & Colleges, featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Rajkumar Krishnan Vasanthi, Head of the Physiotherapy Programme, and Professor Dr. Lee Shiou Yih, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
The revamped centre offers a modern, spacious, and air-conditioned environment, designed with vibrant, lively colours to create a welcoming and therapeutic atmosphere. This upgrade reflects INTI’s commitment to providing state-of-the-art facilities that enhance patient care and student learning.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to inaugurate the new and refreshed INTI Physiotherapy Centre. The ceremony was officiated by Rajkumar Krishnan Vasanthi, Head of Programme and Senior Lecturer; Chong Kok Wai, CEO of INTI International University & Colleges; and Professor Dr. Lee Shiou Yih, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.
In his speech, Chong Kok Wai emphasized the importance of the upgraded facility for students, highlighting that it serves the community and gives students hands-on experience. “Beyond serving the community, this Centre allows our students to gain real-world experience, working alongside professionals and developing the practical skills they need for their careers,” he explained.
The reopening of the centre coincided with INTI’s annual Physio Day, now in its 13th year. Held from 24th to 26th September, Physio Day 13.0 took place at the Nilai campus for the first two days, with the Subang campus hosting the final day. This event offered free health screenings, consultations, and the opportunity to engage with healthcare professionals.
This year’s Physio Day theme aligned with World Physiotherapy Day 2024, celebrated globally on 6th September. The theme focused on managing and preventing lower back pain, a growing health concern worldwide. In support of this, INTI’s Physiotherapy Centre provided specialized screenings aimed at helping visitors maintain spine health.
Rajkumar Krishnan Vasanthi, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Physiotherapy Programme, highlighted the growing need to address back pain. “This year’s Physio Day gives our community a chance to reflect on physical habits that may harm their quality of life if left unchecked. Our Centre is equipped to support people of all ages, with a focus on managing lower back pain,” Rajkumar said.
INTI students from the Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy were given opportunities to conduct health screenings and consultations for the INTI community.
He also emphasised the significance of physical activity in preventing pain. “Our INTI Physiotherapy Centre and physiotherapists are trained to care for all ages. This year, managing lower back pain is critical. This event will also bring awareness about your physical well-being and the importance of physical activities to care for it,” he added.
Physio Day 13.0 also featured interactive workshops led by experts and demonstrations by physiotherapy students and faculty. These sessions aimed to educate the public on managing and preventing back pain, in line with the event’s goal of promoting a healthier, pain-free lifestyle.
The upgraded INTI Physiotherapy Centre is a testament to INTI’s dedication to providing future healthcare professionals with hands-on learning opportunities. The centre will continue to serve as a space for students to develop the practical skills necessary to succeed in the evolving healthcare industry.
Visitors to the reopening event had the chance to tour the upgraded facilities, receive free health screenings, and consult with trained professionals on best practices for managing and preventing physical pain, particularly lower back issues.
