INTI teamed up with MYClean Beach and Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (“Alliance Bank”) for a beach clean-up event on 5 October 2024 at Pantai Jeram, Kuala Selangor. The MYClean Beach 2024 event brought together students, alumni, and industry partners, all united in tackling pollution and preserving one of Malaysia’s beautiful coastal areas.

Khor Han Cen, Head of Career Services at INTI International College Subang, emphasised the importance of the initiative, saying, “Today’s MYClean Beach 2024 was about more than just picking up trash. It’s a reminder of the importance of protecting our beaches and raising awareness about pollution. It also shows what can be achieved when people come together. This event reinforces our mission to equip students with academic skills and a commitment to building a sustainable future.”

With over 70 volunteers participating, the event aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of marine debris and the importance of collective efforts to protect the environment. By the end of the day, volunteers had removed 555 kilogrammes of waste from the beach, including plastic bottles, food packaging, and fishing nets. This highlighted the urgent need to reduce single-use plastics and promote sustainable waste management practices.

Paul Naglatzk, representing MYClean Beach, praised the collaboration, stating, “Everything we collected is 100% repurposed to keep it from ending up in landfills, or worse, the ocean. Our big dream? A world without landfills where everything is recycled or composted.”
Meanwhile, Karen Grace Sutoto from the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a student participant from INTI International College Subang, echoed similar sentiments. “Honestly, the heavy rain and my typical Saturday morning laziness had me feeling unmotivated. But when the skies cleared and the cool breeze kicked in, everything changed,” she said. “Walking along Pantai Jeram, picking up trash with my friends, felt surprisingly rewarding. By the end, I felt accomplished and grateful for the chance to be part of something so meaningful.”

The clean-up not only removed litter but also connected participants who share a passion for environmental protection. Many students and alumni left motivated to adopt more sustainable habits. The success of MYClean Beach 2024 shows how small, collective efforts can drive significant change, as INTI and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability while making a tangible impact on local ecosystems.
