INTI International University has introduced five new academic programmes that address emerging industry needs and support Malaysia’s growing demand for specialised talent. The launch event, held at the Tan Yew Sing Multipurpose Hall on 19 November 2025, brought together industry leaders, educators, alumni, and students to witness the introduction of programmes aligned with INTI’s direction as a future-focused institution.

The new programmes are the Master of Science in Information Systems (By Research), Master of Science in Engineering and Eco-Innovation (By Research), Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, Bachelor in Sports Management (Honours), and Bachelor in Music Production and Audio Technology (Honours). Each programme was designed to meet specific sector needs while strengthening INTI’s position as a provider of industry-relevant education.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr Chong Kok Wai, Chief Executive Officer of INTI International University and Colleges, highlighted how the programmes fit into INTI’s long-term academic strategy. “Whenever we introduce new programmes, we want to ensure our students learn what will matter in the future. Industries are changing quickly, and the pathways that drive Malaysia’s growth now span technology, sustainability, education, sports, and the creative sectors,” he said. “These programmes may sit in different fields, but they share one purpose, which is to prepare graduates for a Malaysia where knowledge and industries are increasingly interconnected.”
The ceremony also welcomed Datuk Dr Ken Phua, Group Managing Director of Bentley Music Group and an INTI alumnus, who officiated the launch. He expressed his support for the university’s direction. “I am delighted to see INTI committed to education that balances theory and practical application, as demanded by the industry today. I hope these courses will contribute to national economic development,” he said.
Two of the new offerings, the Master of Science in Information Systems and the Master of Science in Engineering and Eco-Innovation, signal INTI’s deepening focus on postgraduate research. With industries undergoing rapid digital transformation and sustainability becoming a national priority, these programmes aim to develop researchers who can address complex challenges through data-driven solutions, environmentally responsible engineering, and innovative technology use.
INTI’s emphasis on sustainability has long been part of its academic initiatives, campus practices, and community engagement, and the new research pathways build on that foundation.
The university also introduced three new Bachelor’s programmes in areas where structured academic pathways are increasingly important but less widely available in Malaysia. The Bachelor of Education in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language responds to the rising demand for trained Mandarin educators who can teach non-native speakers. As Malaysia strengthens its role in regional trade, culture, and diplomacy, teachers with strong linguistic and pedagogical skills are needed to support multilingual learning environments.

The Bachelor in Sports Management focuses on the business and operational aspects of sports, reflecting the growth of Malaysia’s sports ecosystem. Meanwhile, the Bachelor in Music Production and Audio Technology supports the expanding creative and digital industries by offering structured training and industry exposure in roles that require both technical ability and artistic insight. All three programmes provide practical learning environments and opportunities for industry engagement.
Industry partners and experts also delivered special addresses during the event, including Raynusri Srivenkatarao, a Software Engineer at Dell Malaysia; JD Wong, an Award-Winning Producer and Member of the Audio Institute of Malaysia; and Rasyidah Abu Johan, a Mandarin Announcer at RTM Malaysia. Their insights highlighted the relevance of INTI’s new programmes and the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in shaping future talent.

INTI’s long-standing emphasis on industry collaboration was reinforced through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Faculty of Engineering and Quantity Surveying and CYPE Software, Spain. The agreement supports teaching, research, and professional development in architecture, engineering, and digital modelling, and complements the new programmes by expanding opportunities for applied learning and industry exposure.
As INTI approaches its 40th anniversary and gains growing regional recognition, the introduction of these programmes reflects its continued efforts to broaden opportunities, strengthen academic quality, and prepare graduates for Malaysia’s evolving workforce.
