INTI Hosts 2024 Malaysia International Conference of Project Management (ICPM)

The 2024 Malaysia International Conference of Project Management (ICPM) took place on 27 April at INTI International College Penang’s Multipurpose Hall. With the theme “Prioritizing People: Advancing Human Capital with Insights from Social Sciences,” the event emphasised a human-centric approach to organisational strategies.

The Association of International Business and Professional Management (AIBPM) organised the conference. It focused on collaboration and innovation in project management. The event featured 88 participants from prestigious institutions in Malaysia and Indonesia. It emphasised the significance of interdisciplinary dialogue and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) in social sciences to enhance human capital.

The conference was a melting pot of ideas and perspectives, with participants from diverse institutions. Representing Malaysia were INTI International College Penang, Wawasan Open University, Kolej Vokasional Butterworth, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Peninsula College Georgetown, Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), Infinity Corporation, Kolej Vokasional Batu Lanchang, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, and Angsana Health. Indonesian participants hailed from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Khairun, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Ekonomi KBP Padang, Palangkaraya University, UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, M.C. Dacanay Architectural Design, and Binawan University, showcasing the global reach and impact of the conference.

Hemalatha Murugiah, Chief Executive of INTI College Penang, emphasised the transformative potential of merging AI with social sciences. “We believe that the fusion of artificial intelligence and social sciences holds the key to unlocking human potential and addressing the complex challenges of our time. By harnessing the power of AI, we can gain deeper insights into human behaviour, craft more informed policies, and create a more equitable society.”

INTI International College Penang is dedicated to equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an AI-driven world. The conference showcased INTI’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation, aiming to ensure AI serves the greater good and enriches humanity.

Associate Professor Dr Daisy Kee Mui Hung from Universiti Sains Malaysia and Country Director of AIBPM noted the conference’s role in facilitating fruitful discussions and exchanges among presenters from diverse backgrounds. The diversity of perspectives, particularly from international participants and keynote speakers, enriched the collective learning experience.
Dr Siti Fairos Saffardin from Wawasan Open University highlighted the conference’s networking and collaborative opportunities. “This conference served as an excellent platform, especially for students and researchers seeking inspiration and new ideas for their projects.”

Distinguished keynote speakers included Dr Gwee Sai Ling, General Manager of PYDC, Dr Prince Charles Heston R. from Universitas Khairun, Dr Gan Kia Hui from INTI International College Penang, Dr Firdous Ahmad Malik from the University of People, Mr Tharindu Ameresekere from the Postgraduate Institute of Management Sri Lanka, and Dr Eve Nwaogu Chan from the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi). Their insights on project management and human capital development were invaluable.

The 2024 Malaysia ICPM was more than just a conference; it was a nexus for networking and forging professional connections across geographical boundaries.
