INTI College Sabah (ICS) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in a ceremony held on 24 January at the college campus. This agreement is expected to impact accounting students’ education and professional growth positively.
Roselyn Chua, the Chief Executive of INTI College Sabah, and Jane Chiong, the Education Relationships Lead for ACCA Maritime Southeast Asia, were the signatories of the MOU. The event was graced by notable figures such as Datuk Alexandra Chin, a past president of ACCA, and Prof Dr. Vincent Pang, the INTI College Sabah Board of Governors Chairman. Also present were Peter Gabriel, ACCA’s Business Relationship Manager for Maritime Southeast Asia, and Dr Athanasia Nointin, the Academic Dean of INTI College Sabah.
In her address, Roselyn shared her excitement about the MOU, stating, “This MOU signifies our commitment to providing our students with the best possible education, ensuring they are well-prepared for successful careers in accounting. The partnership with ACCA will enhance the quality of our programmes and connect our students to a global network of professionals.”
The agreement between INTI College Sabah and ACCA encompasses a broad spectrum of collaborative efforts, notably introducing the ICS-ACCA Dual Diploma. This initiative aims to provide students access to ACCA’s professional development resources, foster learning and development initiatives, promote the ACCA Qualification and the Dual Diploma, and support student training and development through partnership programmes.

The signing ceremony was attended by a diverse group of individuals, including managers and executives from accounting and audit firms, representatives from the SME Association of Sabah, members of the INTI College Sabah Board of Governors, school principals, counsellors, as well as 150 secondary students from five major districts in Sabah and tertiary students from various programmes at INTI College Sabah. The event’s broad representation highlighted the community’s strong support and anticipation for the benefits of this collaboration.
Additionally, the event featured insightful presentations from industry experts, including ACCA’s comparison of job opportunities in the corporate versus private sectors and contributions from the President of ACCA Sabah and representatives from Ernst & Young. These discussions provided valuable perspectives on the accounting profession.
Datuk Alexandra Chin, reflecting on the significance of the partnership, remarked, “We are excited to collaborate with INTI College Sabah to promote the highest standards in accounting education further. This MOU reflects our commitment to nurturing the next generation of accounting professionals and providing them with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving business landscape.”
The ceremony ended positively with an engaging Q&A session, which allowed for a meaningful exchange between students and industry leaders. This interaction highlighted the joint commitment to achieving excellence in accounting education and professional development, making the event a significant milestone in pursuing educational and professional excellence in accounting.
