Honouring Industry Leaders at INTI’s First Virtual Industry Partners Appreciation Day

February 24, 2022

For over three decades, INTI International University & Colleges has aimed to continuously deliver outstanding student outcomes by ensuring its academic and extra-curricular offerings meet industry standards. As an institution dedicated to the advancement of innovative learning and the reinvention of education to meet the changes of today’s volatile working world, one of the key differentiators of INTI’s curriculum has been its dedicated focus to ensuring students are both industry and employer ready even before they graduate.

“INTI’s Industry Partners Appreciation Day (IPAD) is a means through which we thank our partners and highlight those employers that are making a difference in the way Malaysia’s future talents are trained. We proudly showcase the outstanding work our students have accomplished with our partners over the past year, and engage in conversations on what more we can do to address graduate employability,” shared Chong Kok Wai, Chief Executive Officer of INTI International University & Colleges.

The theme of this year’s IPAD is “Resilience & Reinvention” – a message sent across to all stakeholders including INTI’s industry partners that during the pandemic, the INTI community persevered and innovated in adversity without taking a step back.

Kok Wai further added, “INTI has always dedicated its efforts to the advancement of innovative learning and the reinvention of education to meet today’s ever-changing world. Even through a global pandemic, our students continued to benefit from a curriculum that not only meets the highest academic standards but is also very much industry relevant. These efforts to produce graduates who can hit the ground running would not have been possible without the support of our industry partners over the years.”

The 30 virtual project showcases presented at the event reflected INTI’s evolution from not only demonstrating what it does to providing immersive, hands-on experience across all verticals taught at INTI. Students and lecturers interacted with industry partners on the various projects highlighted at the event.

Covering all pathways which encompass business, engineering, computing, hospitality and art & design, the event saw the likes of partners from IBM, Dell, Naga DDB Tribal, FedEx, AstraZeneca, Alliance Bank and more who have worked closely with INTI over the years in providing students opportunities to engage with industry and hone their academic and practical skills in a real-life setting.

“Each year INTI students take advantage of these skill-building opportunities that extend beyond the traditional classroom. Mentoring sessions with representatives from the industry are critical for student training, skills development, and also job placement. It is during these initiatives and projects that students hone the skills and competencies that are valuable for their future career,” elaborated Kok Wai.

Kok Wai concluded, “As Malaysia and the world moves into a phase of recovery after several lockdowns, the job market situation also shows improvement. With workplaces and jobs transforming rapidly, skillsets need to be ramped up. Higher education institutions play a dominant role here, developing courses and curriculum to meet the demand of skilled and competent professionals. However, INTI looks beyond providing graduates with just a degree. We empower students to think beyond the classroom, to put their academic knowledge to practical use and to connect them with some of the world’s most established industry leaders.”
