HeveaPac Brings Industry Insights to FEQS Innovation Week

INTI International University recently hosted an informative sharing session for the students of the Faculty of Engineering and Quantitative Studies (FEQS) as part of the FEQS Innovation Week 2024. The session featured Peh Ju Chai, the Founder and Executive Director of HeveaPac Sdn Bhd, who shared insights into sustainable practices and industry trends.

Held on 20 June, this session highlighted INTI’s commitment to exposing students to real-world industry practices, particularly those that align with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policies. This initiative reflects INTI’s dedication to integrating sustainability into its academic framework and preparing students for future challenges.

Peh Ju Chai discussed the importance of sustainable practices in the furniture industry. “Our employees are well-cared for with education and social needs,” he commented. He also highlighted the significance of using sustainable materials, noting, “In terms of sustainability of our products, using rubber tree stumps, roots, and branches are eco-friendly and cost-effective.”

Peh further emphasised the company’s focus on energy efficiency: “We are all about maximising energy efficiency – we try our best to use clean energy, which is also generated by our solar panels. We constantly ensure that our machines are running on optimal energy, so there will be less waste in the long run.”

The collaboration between INTI and HeveaPac, marked by a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 28 May, aims to enhance educational opportunities and provide employment prospects for INTI students. This partnership exemplifies INTI’s commitment to offering practical industry experience as part of its academic programmes.
