Students from INTI International College Penang’s Cambridge A-Level programme achieved commendable results in the October/November 2024 A2-Level examinations. Nearly half of the 80 candidates scored at least four A grades, while 47.5% secured three As or more. The results reflect not only the students’ consistent effort but also the academic support available at the college.
Lecturer Chung Yao Liang from the Centre of Excellence for Pre-University Studies (CEPS) acknowledged the importance of steady effort and guidance in helping students reach their goals.

Dr. Marisa Khoo Kim Gaik, also from CEPS, noted the adaptability shown by this year’s group of students.
“This cohort stands out due to their resilience, creativity, and strong collaborative skills. They’ve made good use of both online and in-person resources, which helped them stay on track,” she said.
The A-Level programme at INTI emphasises academic preparation alongside the development of skills needed for the next stage of education. Several graduates have secured placements at well-known universities, including the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and Tsinghua University in China.
For Hoe Cui Min, one of the graduates, the experience involved balancing multiple responsibilities.
“Balancing academics with co-curricular activities was challenging, but the guidance from my lecturers and the strong support system at INTI made all the difference. I’m grateful for the opportunities and memories I’ve gained,” she said.

A-Level graduate Iris Wong Xin Zhi is recognised by Dr. Marisa Khoo for her academic performance and contributions during the A-Level programme.
Mahish A/L Muneesparan also shared his experience of staying focused.
“The biggest challenge for me was staying indoors to study when I love going out,” he said. “I kept myself motivated by setting small goals and rewarding myself with food and drinks. Ms. Yap made Mathematics easier to grasp, and Ms. Tan Bee Hooi’s interactive teaching style helped me absorb Biology concepts effectively.”
INTI’s approach to the A-Level programme includes regular mock exams, revision using past papers, and teaching methods such as flipped classrooms and inquiry-based learning. These are supported by digital tools and in-person engagement, depending on students’ needs.
Meanwhile, Dr. Marisa added that developing the right mindset is also important in helping students succeed.
“Success is about embracing the learning process, staying curious, and continuously striving for excellence,” she said.
