Studying abroad can open new opportunities and provide new experiences for students, however, for some, the drawback may be the cost. Realising this, INTI International College Penang launched the Australian Degree Transfer Programme (Science) in February this year to enable students to begin their degree programme in Malaysia and then transfer to partner universities in Australia, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom to complete their degree.
The programme, launched virtually with a digital forum titled “The Current and Future Prospects of Life Sciences, is open for intakes in January, April and August. Students can choose to pursue either Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Molecular Biosciences, or Biomedical Sciences.

“Our strong collaboration with universities in Australia, including the Group of 8 Universities, allows us to provide students with the ability to take part in activities such as guest lectures, study trips, mirror classes, and other internationalization initiatives which are organized alongside these universities in Australia,” said INTI International College Penang chief executive Hemalatha Murugiah during the event.
Australia’s cultural diversity, friendly locals, and quality in higher education has long made it one of the most sought after destinations for international students. In addition, the Australian Degree Transfer Programme also offers networking opportunities, interaction, and connections to industry professionals through employer projects where students solve real business projects.
Ooi Saik Huey, who heads the Australian Degree Transfer Programme at INTI International College Penang, said the programme aims to produce graduates who are highly sought after by the industry.
According to Ooi Saik Huey, who heads the programme, “These initiatives are included in the programme to help fill the talent gap and nurture students in skills such as communication, collaboration, problem solving, as well as to develop good attitude and ultimately transform them to become graduates who are highly sought after.”

The Australian Transfer Degree Programme is open to individuals who have completed either their STPM, diploma, Unified Examination Certificate (UEC), Australian Year 12, Matriculation, Foundation, A Level, Canadian Pre-U and any other equivalent qualifications recognised by Malaysian Government. Scholarships are available and individualised placement services are provided to students to facilitate the transition to their university of choice.
