January 4, 2012

A grant of SGD 5,000 and scholarship equivalent to 80 per cent of his tuition fees awarded by the Singapore Government are acknowledgement of INTI College Sarawak alumnus Kaung Htet Win’s outstanding abilities.

Currently in the third year of medical studies at the National University of Singapore, Kaung, who completed his Cambridge A Level studies at INTI College Sarawak, is highly motivated and takes pride in his many achievements.

At INTI, he took great interest in the application of theoretical concepts to real-world applications. He was a recipient of the INTI Merit Scholarship and in recognition of his outstanding academic performance was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for the May and September 2007 sessions and the Certificate of Merit for the January 2008 session. He scored 4 As in the June 2008 Cambridge A Level external examinations. In the same year, he achieved an IELTS score of band 8.5.

“Notwithstanding the rigorous academic schedule at INTI, Kaung was able to strike a balance between his academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. He was the President of the A Level Student Club and an Auditor in INTIMA, the Student Government of INTI College Sarawak,” said Clement Chang, Head of INTI College Sarawak’s Centre of Excellence for Pre-University Studies.

“As a member of the INTI Students’ Toastmasters and Debate Clubs, Kaung organized and participated in numerous public speaking and debating events. During the 3rd INTI Inter-Campus Debate Championship in 2007, he was the first runner-up and Overall Best Speaker. He was also excellent as a member of INTI’s Debating Team which participated in the Yayasan Sarawak World Style English Debate Challenge 2007,” added Chang.

Whether in Kuching or Singapore, Kaung has proven to be an excellent role model for his peers to emulate.

A former student of SMK Batu Lintang, Kaung has a very bright future ahead as he pursues his chosen profession as a medical doctor. On completion of his studies, he will join the Singapore Government’s Ministry of Health as a medical practitioner and utilize his knowledge and skills for the betterment of human kind.
