Instead of traditional lectures and exams, students at INTI International College Penang spent five days solving real business challenges, engaging with industry professionals, and developing job-ready skills. Digital Week 2.0, held from 16 to 20 June 2025, animated the classroom with industry-led workshops, analytics projects, and exposure to emerging technologies.
Centred around the theme “Your Launchpad to the Future”, the five-day hybrid event brought together more than 300 students, 15 industry speakers, and international collaborators. Topics ranged from robotic automation and AI in law to Power BI analytics and financial modelling—technologies shaping how industries operate and hire.
Maheshwari Manogaran and Ariana Khoo, students from INTI International College Penang’s School of Business (SOBIZ), acted as emcees during Digital Week 2.0, engaging the audience throughout the five-day programme.
“These platforms are vital in building student confidence and ensuring our graduates are prepared to thrive in digitally transformed industries,” said Hemalatha Murugiah, Chief Executive of INTI International College Penang. “When students interact directly with industry leaders and apply what they’ve learned in real-time, they gain invaluable insights. These experiences offer value that no classroom alone can provide.”
Students actively engaged in the learning process, rather than just observing. Industry partners such as Deloitte, ACCA, Jeeva Partnership, Flexi Freight, FedEx, Infineon, and Wilmar GBS conducted workshops that provided students with practical skills and the chance to work on real case studies. These sessions covered various topics, including data analytics, legal technology, AI in operations, and automation in logistics.
For INTI student Ho Waye Xuen, a final-year undergraduate in the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Accounting and Finance 3+0 programme in collaboration with the University of Hertfordshire, UK, under the School of Business (SOBIZ), the event stood out.
“The most impactful session for me was the Financial Modelling Workshop by Deloitte,” said Ho. “It gave me practical Excel skills and ended with a quiz competition that reinforced our learning in a fun way. I also gained new perspectives on how AI is changing the accounting profession.”
She also joined the Infineon Employer Project Presentation, where students were tasked with solving actual business problems and pitching their recommendations to senior leaders.
“It was an eye-opening experience that sharpened my research, teamwork, and public speaking skills,” she added.
Koushalya Priya Rajaram, Head of Programme from the School of Business (SOBIZ), said the event was designed to connect what students learn in theory to how it works in practice.
“Through our partnerships with leading organisations, we exposed students to real challenges and empowered them to propose innovative solutions. These experiences are invaluable in helping them navigate the transition from academia to industry,” she said.
Kumarappan Ramasamy, Partner at Jeeva Partnership (Advocates & Solicitors), delivers a session on how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the legal landscape.
The week also provided a platform for industry professionals to interact with students early. Adrian Lam Keen Leong, Audit Partner at Deloitte, commented on the students’ level of preparedness.
“It was refreshing to see how engaged INTI students were. The questions they asked showed real depth and curiosity about the future of work,” he shared. “Partnerships like this help prepare students for what’s next and give them an edge in a competitive workforce.”
“Digital Week 2.0 is just the beginning,” said Mohd Hafiz Mohamad Zahari, Senior Lecturer from the School of Business (SOBIZ) and event co-organiser. “We’re building a culture that values innovation, collaboration, and the skills needed for a digital-first future.”
