INTI Strengthens Global Links with Over 100 New Partnerships and Expanded Academic Reach

June 23, 2025

International academic collaboration continues to play a vital role in advancing innovation, cross-cultural understanding, and sustainable development. INTI International University is making significant progress in this area, enhancing its global presence through academic partnerships, faculty engagements, and student mobility programmes.

From January to June 2025, INTI formalised 115 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with universities abroad and welcomed 650 inbound students through exchange and mobility initiatives. These developments mark a significant step in INTI’s commitment to promoting global engagement and academic excellence.

Recent cohorts arriving at INTI’s Nilai campus include students from Wuchang University of Technology (China), Hochschule Mainz – University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and Accurate Institute of Management and Technology (India). These student exchanges cultivate a vibrant, multicultural campus atmosphere and promote academic dialogue across borders.

New partnerships have also been established with Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering (China), Bukhara State University (Uzbekistan), and Smart University College for Modern Education (Jordan). These agreements are expected to facilitate future academic exchanges, joint research, and collaborative programme development, reinforcing INTI’s mission to provide education with global relevance.

INTI faculty further extended the university’s international presence by participating in key academic conferences throughout Asia and Africa. Among these were:
• AP. Dr. Ng Miew Luan at the International Study Abroad Fair 2025 in Oyo State, Nigeria
• Prof. Dr. Goh Khang Wen at the International Conference on Computational and Mathematical Modelling in Colombo, Sri Lanka
• Dr. Chan Choon Kit at the International Conference on Science, Technology and Engineering in Tainan, Taiwan
• Prof. Dr. Joseph Lee, Prof. Dr. Cheng Wan Hee, and Prof. Dr. Walton Wider at the AUAP Forum and Annual Conference in Manila, Philippines
• Prof. Ir. Dr. Malathy Batumalay at the International Conference on Innovative Computing Technologies and Applications in Bengaluru, India

These engagements highlight INTI’s growing role in international academic discourse and its initiatives to connect Malaysian scholarship with global audiences.

A notable highlight this year was the appointment of Prof. Ir. Dr. Leong Wai Yie as a KESATRIA Malaysia Ambassador, recognising her leadership in promoting Malaysia through international business events. “It represents an affirmation that years of advocacy and engagement have contributed meaningfully to Malaysia’s global professional standing,” she said.

Prof. Leong’s contributions include organising international engineering conferences, technology transfer programmes, and industry-driven innovations in Smart Manufacturing, Digital Twin Technology, and biomedical devices. Additionally, her work entails diplomatic efforts through Wushu-related initiatives. These activities reflect INTI’s broader commitment to knowledge creation, innovation, and sustainable development.

Through each collaboration and engagement — whether with students, faculty, or partners — INTI reinforces its position as a university that not only participates in the global education sphere but also actively shapes it. Its expanding international networks and consistent academic contributions reflect a clear focus: to connect Malaysian education with the world and the world with Malaysia.
