Lim Jun Liang Wins Bronze at ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2024

Lim Jun Liang, a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering 3+0 in collaboration with Coventry University, UK, at INTI International College Penang, has won the Bronze Award at the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2024. He competed against over 10,000 students from the Asia-Pacific region and showcased exceptional digital design and problem-solving skills, distinguishing himself in a highly competitive environment.

Sharing his thoughts on the experience, Jun Liang said, “Balancing my final exams while learning new software like Siemens Solid Edge CAD was tough. But with practice and guidance from my lecturer, I sharpened my 3D CAD modelling and technical drawing skills.”

His ability to create precise and practical designs under tight deadlines demonstrated his preparedness for real-world engineering challenges. While representing INTI, he employed innovative problem-solving strategies, a vital skill that proved essential in the competition.

Tajul Afiq, a lecturer from INTI’s School of Engineering and Jun Liang’s advisor, commended his achievement. “Jun Liang’s resilience, discipline, and ability to master new tools independently reflect the qualities of a future leader in engineering. His success is also a testament to INTI’s commitment to nurturing innovation and critical thinking.”

Jun Liang credited INTI’s hands-on learning approach for his growth. “The projects and mentorship I received here were instrumental in building my confidence and skills,” he said.

Looking ahead, he plans to apply his newly refined skills to his final-year project, further strengthening his expertise in mechanical engineering. “This competition has motivated me to take on more challenges and apply these skills professionally,” he added.


Lim Jun Liang competing remotely in the National Round of the ICDL Asia Digital Challenge 2024. Participants were required to create a fully assembled 3D model using Siemens Solid Edge within two hours.
