Huawei ICT Academy Launches at INTI International College Penang

In response to the growing importance of collaboration between universities and industries in today’s fast-paced technological world, INTI International College Penang (IICP) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd successfully hosted the first-ever Huawei Day on 28 June 2024, on campus. With the theme “Intelligent World 2030,” this event emphasised sharing knowledge and integrating Huawei’s cutting-edge technologies into INTI’s curriculum. Students presented strategies to secure IoT medical devices, demonstrating the practical application of their learning in a hands-on session.


During Huawei Day at INTI International College Penang, students participated in a hands-on workshop, learning about securing IoT devices as part of the new Huawei ICT Academy curriculum.

Esteemed representatives from Invest Penang, including Hawani Adnan, the Secretariat of Penang Future Foundation, and Yann Hiou, Lead of the Talent Programme at Penang Future Foundation, were also in attendance.

The main goal of Huawei Day was to launch the Huawei ICT Academy at IICP. This collaboration is the first step for INTI to work with Huawei for professional certifications and advanced technology. By becoming a Huawei ICT Academy Center, IICP aims to enhance the quality of education, giving students and faculty access to Huawei courses and professional certifications. This initiative is designed to produce highly skilled and employable graduates ready to contribute to the intelligent world of 2030.

The programme included various activities to introduce students and faculty to Huawei technologies, ICT courses, and Industry 4.0 initiatives. Workshops, presentations, and hands-on demonstrations provided insights into the latest technological advancements and how they can be applied in academic and professional settings.

Furthermore, the event encouraged students and faculty to advance their careers by integrating Huawei’s syllabus and modules into their current curriculum. Open to all students from the School of Computing (SOC) and School of Engineering (SOE), the event saw over 200 attendees. It was a unique opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge and industry exposure, preparing them for successful technological careers.

The day’s events began with a keynote address, followed by workshops, presentations, and panel discussions. Students and faculty interacted with Huawei expert Delea Tan, Talent Ecosystem Manager at Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, learning about the latest trends and technologies in the ICT industry. Participants also explored Huawei products and solutions to understand how these technologies shape the future.

A significant highlight of the day was the official launch of IICP as a Huawei ICT Academy Center, an essential milestone in the partnership between IICP and Huawei. This new designation is expected to benefit students and faculty at IICP and contribute to the advancement of the ICT industry in Malaysia.
