INTI International College Subang’s Pre-University students collaborated with PJ Eco Recycling Plaza, KSK Land, and Impactlution for a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project. The aim was to promote recycling, waste management, and raise environmental awareness.

The project lasted a month, running from May 17th to June 17th. It involved collecting recyclable items from the INTI community, the SS15 neighbourhood, and surrounding areas in Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya.

A significant highlight of the initiative was a visit to the PJ Eco Recycling Plaza, where students brought recyclable items and observed the recycling process. The tour provided valuable insights into waste issues and emphasized the importance of the 3R principles: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Students witnessed firsthand how sorted recyclables are used and learned about the environmental and societal impacts of waste.
Pre-U student Ammar Syahidan expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the PJ Eco Recycling Plaza and experiencing the recycling process ourselves.”

“To ensure effective recycling, it is important to separate recyclable items into their respective categories and ensure they are clean and dry before recycling. Additionally, practicing composting organic waste reduces landfill waste and provides nutrients for plants in our homes,” he added.

Another student, Hlaing Thinzar Aung, emphasized that everyone can contribute, no matter how small their efforts.
“Before recycling, let’s start by reducing and reusing plastics to help the environment. My advice to the community is to begin today by refusing, reusing, and recycling. Even small individual efforts become significant when combined with everyone’s actions. It is crucial to start with ourselves and involve others later,” she said.
Other engaging activities such as talks, captivating video creation, an eco-creative slang competition, surveys, and designing eye-catching posters were conducted throughout the month – all aimed at fulfilling the CSR mission.

Sutha Rajagopal, a senior lecturer at INTI International College Subang, emphasized the importance of recycling becoming a way of life.
“Recycling is not only important but should become a way of life. Every time we recycle, we contribute to saving our environment. Videos were posted on Instagram and TikTok platforms to raise awareness, not only during the project but also beyond its duration. Now is the time to prioritize recycling!” she said.
The project had successfully created awareness not only among the 47 students involved, but also their surrounding communities, reminding them to act responsibly and to think twice before discarding anything.
