On the 6th July 2023 INTI International University had the pleasure to host the Dean, outstanding lecturers’ and students from Guangdong Science and Trade Vocational College for a week-long international student exchange study and cultural tour.
Guangdong Science and Trade Vocational College is a higher vocational school established in 1985. The school consists of three campuses within the Provincial Vocational Education City (Qingyuan), Guangzhou Baiyun and Guangzhou Tianhe.
Dean Zhao of Guangdong Science and Trade International College met with leaders at INTI International University to discuss the future direction, cooperation and collaboration between the two institutions. At the opening ceremony, Dean Zhao encouraged the students, many of whom were travelling abroad for the first time to improve their skills, knowledge and understanding of cross-cultural learning. Dean Zhao specially customized a commemorative medal of Guangdong Vocational College of Science and Trade and INTI International University which was presented as a gift to INTI International University.
Following the opening ceremony, the leaders from both institutions engaged in, in-depth discussions on further cooperation between the two institutions to facilitate both students and lecturers to work on future projects to further enhance collaboration and goodwill between both institutions.
During the week the students and lecturers participated in a number of workshops having the opportunity to visit historical and cultural towns in and around the University campus. Some of the workshops conducted for the exchange students included a 3D Study Workshop, Mass Communication Workshop, Business Workshop, Malay Language Workshop, IT Workshop: Fun Projects with python programming, Traditional Music Instrument Class which served to expose students not only to learning new skills but also learning within different environments and engaging with their peers. The workshops served to enrich their knowledge and experience in sharing cutting-edge ideas in different fields. Cultural experiences included a day trip to Malacca – a UNESCO World Heritage City and a one-day tour of Kuala Lumpur & Putrajaya the administrative capital of Malaysia.
The student exchange visit to INTI International University proved to be a great success and effectively enhanced and broadened both the lecturers and students’ experience of cross-cultural learning which served to enhance language proficiency and teamwork with fellow peers. This cultural exchange not only allowed participants to engage within different learning environments with their peers but also provided them with multi-racial, multi-ethic and multi-cultural experiences and opportunities to engage with other international students thus enriching their own personal knowledge and cultural experiences. This has provided a strong foundation for further cooperation and collaboration between these two universities.
At the closing ceremony the students from Guangdong Science and Trade Vocational College performed various Kung Fu and traditional dances leaving behind lasting and touching memories for all.
