The COVID-19 pandemic has created the largest disruption of education systems in history. However, from this disruption, comes the stimulation of innovative minds among higher learning institutions in order to ensure that no students are left behind. As such, it was timely for INTI International University to have organized the very first International Higher Education Conference, IHEC2022 with the theme Before and After the Pandemic from 31st March to 1st April 2022, gathering the minds of leaders, scholars and researchers of higher education institutions across the globe to share their visions about international higher education; experiences and tactical approaches dealing with various challenges in times of uncertainty and unknown challenges, as well as other aspects of higher education internationalization, leadership and management.
This conference had touched on various aspects of how the Pandemic has impacted the Higher Education provision. It gave us a renewed perspective and insights of higher educations, as leaders in the higher learning institutions across the globe shared and discussed strategies from formulated before and after the pandemic to strategies on dealing with the unknown. Internationalization of education has also faced with unprecedented challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Higher education and internationalization are somehow entwine together, as Internationalization is seen as a way for students and academicians to broaden their academic experiences. With the Pandemic shutting us down from cross border travels, it also opens up windows of opportunities for higher learning institutions to look at different alternatives in defining internalization. The conference had touched on the two different aspects and processes of internationalization during the Pandemic period: First on internationalization at home country and second on cross border internationalization.
It was truly an opportunity for INTI International University, in collaboration with the National University of Malaysia (UKM), Amity University Mumbai and Islamic University of Maldives to have organized this conference which saw the gathering of 30 speakers and moderators from 24 institutions and entities of 14 countries in different continents of the world to share their visions, experiences, and views on their respective topics. Their insightful sharing have inspired almost a thousand audiences in leading the future of higher education.
