Empowering Indigenous Education Through University Social Responsibility

The Faculty of Education and Liberal Arts (FELA) at INTI International University is championing indigenous education empowerment through its University Social Responsibility Program. As part of this initiative, FELA has launched “The Reading Buddy Program for Year 6 students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Kg. Tekir, Labu Negeri Sembilan.”

Understanding the pivotal role of literacy in community development, this program pairs FELA staff and students from the INTI mobility program, particularly those enrolled in the Intensive English Program (IEP), with Year 6 pupils to provide personalized mentorship.

The primary goal of this project is to empower the indigenous community through education, laying the foundation for improved literacy outcomes and broader socio-economic advancement. By instilling a love for reading and facilitating educational empowerment, the Reading Buddy Program aims to ignite positive transformation and cultivate a brighter future for SK Kg Tekir and its residents.

Through this collaborative effort, FELA and INTI International University are committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of indigenous students, fostering academic success, and nurturing a culture of lifelong learning within the community.
