Align with the Innovation Week, the Faculty of Engineering and Quantity Surveying at INTI International University successfully hosted a Dialogue with Commercial Drone Service Provider Drone Academy at RC-LT-B on 6th of March.
The dialogue provided students and academicians with a platform to talk about the most recent trends and issues in the commercial drone industry, the legal foundation for commercial drone operation and the use of drones in various uses, including delivery, inspection, mapping, and photography.
The session also presented a chance for participants to network and work together to promote the development and growth of the commercial drone sector not just in Malaysia, but globally.
Ms Erin Hoo, Director and Accountable Manager of Drone Academy explains that the company is an educational institution offering courses and training programs for individuals and organizations interested in learning about the technology and applications of drones. The academy provides both theoretical and practical training in various areas, including drone operations, data analysis, mapping, inspection, and surveillance.
She added that the primary goal of Drone Academy is to give people the knowledge and abilities needed to use drones safely and efficiently in a variety of fields, including farming, construction, surveying, mining, and filmmaking.
The academy offers a variety of programmes tailored to the unique requirements of various sectors and the curriculum is frequently revised to reflect the most recent advancements in drone technology.
During the safety briefing, Adam Husairi, CAAM Certified Remote Pilot and Ground and Flight Instructor at Drone Academy also emphasized that for those who want to use drones for commercial work or intend to do so, it is mandated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) to obtain a certificate of competency for Higher Risk – Specific UAS Operations.
The dialogue was filled with a session on how commercial drones work in the field. The drone demonstration allowed students and academicians to have a hands-on learning experience with drones, helping them to better understand how the technology works and how it can be used in various applications.
Students from Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Chan Wa Seremban joined the demonstration as part as their Robotics Club activity.
