Critical Success Factors for Cybersecurity

The Faculty of Data Science and Information Technology (FDSIT) recently organized an online International Symposium on Critical Success Factors for Cybersecurity. This symposium was conducted by one of the research clusters from FDSIT, known as Computational Mathematics, Technology and Optimization.

We were privileged to have with us Associate Professor Dr William Yeoh a distinguished speaker from the Department of Information System and Business at Deakin University.

In 2020, AP Professor William Yeoh was named amongst the Top 25 Analytics Leaders in Australia by the Institute of Analytics Professionals of Australia. He is the recipient of several awards, namely ICT Educator of the Year Gold Award, Internationally competitive IBM Faculty Awards, Deakin’s Vice-Chancellor Award for value Innovation and Deakin Faculty Excellence in Research Award. He mentored the successful team that was crowned World Champions at the IBM Watson Analytics Global Competition held in Las Vegas in 2016. In 2020 he mentored the team that successfully won the ‘COVID-19 Flatten the Curve’ Hackathon which, is the biggest hackathon in the Asia Pacific region with almost 2,400 competitors worldwide.

AP Dr. William Yeoh is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at INTI International University. His current research encompasses areas relating to Business Analytics, Cybersecurity, Cloud Sourcing, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain and other related areas. He is renounced in his research and his opinion and findings are highly regarding within the industry.

During the symposium, AP Dr William Yeoh shared his expertise on three different criterias namely Critical Success Factors, Blockchain and Phishing Awareness Campaign for Cybersecurity. The symposium gave participants an overview on the importance of protecting networks, devices and data from unauthorized access or criminal use to ensure confidentiality, integrity and the availability of information. The online symposium was attended by academicians and students from INTI International University along with industry partners, researchers, joint paper and grant collaborators from  various industries and universities.
