NMITE (LoT) Workshop 25th & 26th July at INTI International University

The Faculty of Engineering and Quantity Surveying recently organized an Internet of Things (LoT) two day workshop  involving students from diverse  backgrounds.  Guided by Assoc. Prof. Dr. E Pooh Ling from New Model Institute for Technology and Engineering (NMITE) the workshop was conducted in a hybrid environment with students from mechanical engineering and information technology both in a physical and online classroom simultaneously.

Students were introduced to fundamental theories of LoT followed by a video conference with a real-world LoT challenge owner, Mr. Samuel Lim, the Director and Chief Technology Officer of Legaxus Technology Sdn. Bhd. Students were encouraged to work in groups using Rich Picture technology to translate and represent design challenges.

This was followed on the second day by students garnering all the information needed and refining their solutions to the challenges they were presented with. Mr. Samuel Lim critically assessed the students’ findings providing invaluable feedback as well as sharing with them common industry practices along with his personal professional knowledge within the industry. He was impressed with the original concepts and solutions provided by the students.

The NMITE teaching model is a distinctive platform which replicates and exposes students to a working environment whereas future employees they learn to contribute as individuals and as a team in providing viable solutions to projects they are assigned to. The NMITE hybrid mode of delivering content and assessments help mold students into employees of the future where they can blend seamlessly into modern and future work practices enabling both employers and employees to stay connected on a global platform and share valuable industry insights and solutions to future challenges.
