GSS-2: “Earthquake Resistant Systems: Buckling-Restrained Braces – Testing & Simulation” is a guest lecture focusing on Buckling-Restrained Braces (BRBs) as an advanced earthquake-resistant structural system. The session highlights the role of BRBs in improving structural resilience during seismic events by effectively dissipating energy and enhancing overall building performance.
The lecture introduces the fundamental principles of BRB systems and explains their advantages compared to conventional bracing methods. Participants gain a clearer understanding of how BRBs contribute to safer and more stable structural designs during earthquakes.
In addition, the session explores experimental testing methods used to evaluate the performance of BRBs, as well as the application of finite element analysis (FEA) in simulating their behaviour under seismic loading conditions. These insights bridge theoretical concepts with practical engineering applications.
Overall, the session aims to enhance knowledge in earthquake-resistant design and provide exposure to modern analytical and testing approaches in structural engineering.
