A STEM Carnival was organised to promote interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among school students, while strengthening collaboration between the school and university community. The programme was held from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, with student-focused activities taking place from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The initiative aligns with national efforts to enhance STEM education, including the integration of emerging technologies such as drones and robotics, as encouraged by the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI). These technologies play an important role in preparing future industry talents.
As part of the event, the Faculty of Engineering and Quantity Surveying set up interactive booths to engage students in hands-on learning. Through activities, quizzes, and demonstrations, students explored key STEM concepts and gained a better understanding of real-world applications in engineering, innovation, and sustainability.
The programme also served as a platform to connect students with the university environment, fostering greater awareness of higher education opportunities and encouraging interest in STEM-related fields. It reflects the university’s commitment to community engagement through USR/CSR initiatives.
Overall, the STEM Carnival created a meaningful learning experience, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, while bridging the gap between academia and the wider community.
