Volunteering is a noble act that not only benefits the community but also enriches the individual’s life with meaningful experiences. On March 11, 2023, a group of INTI students from the MPU3113 Hubungan Etnik course participated in the Keeper Ku Programme at Zoo Negara as volunteers witnessed an overwhelming response from individuals who are passionate about wildlife conservation and care.

The recent volunteering event held at Zoo Negara, Malaysia, aimed to provide a platform for volunteers to contribute their time and effort to the upkeep and maintenance of the zoo’s facilities, animal care, and conservation activities.

The volunteering event provided an opportunity for individuals to get hands-on experience in various tasks, including animal feeding, enclosure cleaning, and assisting in conservation activities. The event not only allowed volunteers to contribute to the community but also learn and develop new skills while being surrounded by the beautiful wildlife.

The involvement of the MPU3113 Hubungan Etnik course in the programme allowed the students to understand the importance of cultural diversity in conservation efforts. Through this course, they got to rub shoulders with a group of passionate zookeepers hailing from various cultural backgrounds and learned how to look at wildlife conservation from multiple angles. The experience was an eye-opener for the students, who now appreciate the value of cultural diversity in preserving our planet’s precious ecosystems.

Step right into the wild world of the Keeper Ku Program at Zoo Negara, where the INTI students embarked on a thrilling adventure of a lifetime! They immersed themselves in the conservation of wildlife, rolled up their sleeves to learn about the daily tasks of animal care, and rubbed shoulders with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
The experience left them spellbound and they hope to participate in similar programs in the future and inspire other students to volunteer for such programs to contribute to the conservation of our natural heritage. So, if you’re a wildlife enthusiast looking to make a difference, the Keeper Ku Program is calling your name!
