Overview
 

Our Foundation in Business IT programme introduces you to the world of business with an initial grounding in management skills and IT knowledge. The academic knowledge and practical skills gained will help springboard you into the next level - a Business or IT degree programme.

Students will study common subjects in the first semester. You will then have the choice to pick a specific pathway.

The Business pathway provides a solid fundamental understanding of concepts, principles, structures and behaviours of an organisation, the market and the consumer.

The IT pathway leads you to discover programming fundamentals with an introduction to database. It is designed to promote an understanding of the technical and humanistic aspects of computing.

 
 
Learning Approach
 

Students will be introduced to active learning methodologies like problem-based learning. You will be encouraged to hone your skills through group discussions and projects. We will also guide you in enhancing your critical and analytical skills so that you'll be better prepared for tertiary studies and the working world.

 
 
Assessment
 
Assessment of individual courses in the Foundation in Business Information Technology programme consists of 2 components:
  • Continuous course work (60%)
  • Final examination (40%)

The continuous course work component comprises different assessment tasks such as projects, assignments, laboratory work, presentations, tests, and others as assigned throughout each semester. The final examination is conducted at the end of each semester. The assessments are subject to quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards and ensure fairness.
