Engineering is about making things happen and solving problems. It calls for creativity, management and communication skills, as well as technical expertise and knowledge.

Our Foundation in Engineering programme aims to equip you with those skills to start you off on this exciting and rewarding career pathway.

Our Engineering foundation programme is developed to give you a broad understanding of the fundamentals of Engineering. This includes a solid grounding in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Basic Computing.

 
 
Learning Approach
 
At the centre of our engineering foundation course is problem-based learning where students participate in group discussions and projects that will help develop:
  • Study skills 
  • Presentation skills 
  • Research skills 
  • Time management skills 
  • Critical and analytical skills
 
 
Assessment
 
There are 2 assessment components throughout the Foundation in Engineering course:
  • Continuous course work (60%)
    The continuous course work component comprises different assessment tasks such as projects, assignments, laboratory work, presentations, tests, and other work as assigned throughout each semester

  • Final examination (40%)
    The final examination is conducted at the end of each semester. The assessments are subject to quality assurance procedures to maintain high standards and ensure fair assessment.
