The actuarial profession is perfect for you if you enjoy challenges and problem solving. Our Actuarial Science Program covers the study of uncertain future events and the use of mathematics, statistics and financial theory to measure the financial consequences of risk. Actuaries work in all sectors of the economy such as insurance companies, banks and government sectors. US Actuarial Science students are required to sit for a series of professional actuarial exams; and fulfill practical training requirements via a North American professional actuarial body to obtain their professional certification and become a Certified Actuary. Professional Examination
You are required to sit for a series of professional examinations in order to qualify as a Certified Actuary.
The American Society of Actuaries (SOA) requires you to complete five (5) examinations, an e-learning program, VEE validation and a professionalism seminar in order to become an Associate (ASA). To become a Fellow (FSA), you need to successfully complete all ASA requirements, two (2) other examinations and two (2) modules based on your specialty track. The American Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) requires a series of nine (9) examinations for certification as a Fellow. The first four (4) examinations of these two societies are identical.
